We are a research and teaching practice in a semi-rural area with two surgeries covering 11,500 patients. Our main surgery is a new purpose built building constructed in 1989 in the small town of Hedon which serves a population who mostly commute into Hull. By contrast the branch surgery in the village of Keyingham covers a more rural population providing an interesting contrast.

The practice has developed a wide range of services including full time in-house physiotherapy, dietician services and we dispense to 50% of our patients.We also have in-house clinics in orthopaedics and gynaecology. The practice takes Students from the Hull York Medical School.

We have had an interest in research for some time and in 1998 became an NHS Executive Research Practice. Current research activity includes COPD, asthma, and complex systems. We encourage our registrars to become fully involved in the life of the practice with a wide range of opportunities available both in terms of learning and research.

We provide our on call through a local co-operative covering the area of Holderness which provides registrars the opportunity to develop skills in this form of out of hours care.

Registrars work from both of our surgeries to give the widest range of experience. Video facilities are available within the practice to support registrars undertaking summative assessment. Teaching for the MRCGP examination is also available.
