Introduction:

This course is approved and funded by the Deanery and is part of the last period of training. It is ran by Dr Jon Chadwick, Course Organiser for York & Coast (Scarborough) GPEC.

Aims:

This course is intended for all those registrars of the York and Coast, Hull and Dales GPEC's in the last 6 months of vocational training to facilitate transition to their future careers.

To enhance awareness of the implications of career choice in General Practice.

To prepare registrars for choosing a practice and partnership.

To encourage and facilitate future professional development.

Format:

After brief introductions, most of the day is spent in small group workshops each facilitated by one of the expert resources exploring individual issues, ideas and concerns.

Covering the following - professional development, personal education plan, educational mentoring, joining a practice, the implications of a professional life, problems and pitfalls of contracts and the nature of GMS and PMS contracts
